Sprint reports best sales day ever with launch of iPhone 4, iPhone 4S

With the help of Apple’s iPhone, it took Sprint only four hours to break its previous one-day sales record

Sprint Nextel has confirmed that today’s iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S launch has resulted in the carrier’s best-ever day of sales for a device family.

Sprint today reported its best ever day of sales in retail, web and telesales for a device family in Sprint history with the launch of iPhone 4S and iPhone 4,” Sprint product chief Fared Adib said in a statement. “The response to this device by current and new customers has surpassed our expectations and validates our customers’ desire for a truly unlimited data pricing plan.”

The company, which is investing heavily in LTE, is the last major carrier to get the iPhone on its network. A statement released today said the company broke its previous record by 1 pm ET on Friday. The broken record includes sales of both the  iPhone 4 and new iPhone 4S.

Overall, the announcemnet should come as no suprise as Sprint subscribers have been clamoring for Apple’s iPhone for years now. The pent up demand looks to have made for an amazing launch day for Dan Hesse and company, which is good news for carrier.

While totals aren’t in quite yet, some industry analysts believe Apple could sell as many as 4 million iPhone handsets across all carriers this weekend.
