RIM reveals new BlackBerry phone for T-Mobile
But don’t get too excited just yet … it’s not the one you’ve been waiting for
RIM revealed a brand new BlackBerry smartphone on Thursday. But before you get too excited (assuming you’re one of the few remaining who can still conjure such emotion over BlackBerry), let’s just say this new unveiling probably isn’t what you were expecting.
Nope, it’s not RIM’s long overdue BlackBerry 10 device. Instead, it’s just another low-end Curve, slated to launch later this month on T-Mobile’s network.
Are you still with us? It’s cool, we know it’s not for everyone, but let’s talk specs for a minute and then you can decide for yourself how much it does or doesn’t suck. The new Curve runs on BlackBerry 7.1 OS and features a 3.2 megapixel camera (gah!) and microSD memory expansion. And, of course, it wouldn’t be a Curve without that full QWERTY keyboard.
You can pre-order the thing beginning Jan. 16 or pick it up in stores starting Jan. 23. But let’s not forget that RIM’s real revelation comes just a week later with the launch of its first BB10 smartphones (OMG, FINALLY). So, if you can hold out just a touch longer, you may wanna check that out first. Then again, this new Curve is only $ 50.
