High-res Apple iPad 3 reportedly arriving in March, iPhone 5 with 4-inch display coming this summer?

A new report indicates Apple is readying a higher-res iPad 3 for March and an aluminum LTE iPhone 5 for a late June release

iLounge reports that Apple is currently preparing to launch a newer, higher-end iPad 3 in March with a dual-backlit display and a new high-resolution screen. It may be shown off in January if it’s ready in time, the report says.

The iPad 3 would supposedly gain 0.7mm over the iPad 2, but would still be nearly four millimeters thinner than the original iPad. A new version of an Apple product that is thicker than its predecessor would be sort of odd, but it might make sense if it had LTE.

In addition, iLounge cites its “most reliable source” in stating that Apple will likely launch an aluminum iPhone 5 next summer. In contrast to a number of previous rumors, the site says that the iPhone 5 does not have a tear-drop design as reported by The Verge earlier this year. Instead, it will be 8mm longer than the current model and will have a 4-inch screen.

The purported iPhone 5 details could make sense. A 4-inch display would certainly be expected, but an aluminum back sounds a little off. As you may or may not know, the original iPhone had several reception issues due to its aluminum back.

So, you’re probably wondering: is this new report true? Who knows, but as always, I suggest you take everything with a grain of salt, especially reports which don’t offer up any documented proof.

But if the report is indeed true, it definitely seems like 2012 will be the year Apple changes everything. I for one can’t wait to find out.
Definitely an excting year to come if you’re an Apple fan
