AT&T’s HTC Jetstream 4G arriving September 4th, priced obscenely high

HTC’s first Honeycomb tablet sports a 10.1-inch HD display and a super powerful 1.5GHz dual-core processor
AT&T announced yesterday that it will exclusively offer the HTC Jetstream 4G, AT&T’s first 4G LTE/HSPA+ tablet on September 4th for 9.99 with a new two-year contract.
The Jetstream, originally codenamed the HTC Puccini, sports a 10.1-inch high-def display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The Jetstream also sports an 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and runs Android 3.1 Honeycomb with HTC’s Sense UI.
Like HTC’s Flyer, the Jetstream supports stylus input and the HTC Scribe digital pen. AT&T is offering the accessory at no additional cost for a limited time when the devices launches, reports CNET.
In the past, AT&T said it planned to launch LTE 4G in five cities this summer. With summer coming to an end, the company will need to formally launch its 4G network in more places soon so that this tablet is relevant. As VentureBeat points out and we tend to agree, if AT&T does not, the Jetstream could be dead before we even see it.
The most outrageous element of the Jetstream 4G is that AT&T is charging 0 upfront with a new two-year contract. Some how they did not learn from the Motorola Xoom’s failure.
With the added expense of the expensive two-year contract, it’s hard to imagine many will want this Jetstream.
Would you?
